1. Why do I love the Backstreet Boys? I don't even know where to begin. (This is going to be an essay, no actually a book, haha.)...

I fell in love with their music at a young age. I was in my early years of elementary school when Backstreet's Back came out. My first BSB Concert was the 2001 Black and Blue Tour. I went with my family - my mom, dad, and sister - back when our family was intact. I was nine years old at the time. I held up a white sign with pink letters that said, "I <3 you Brian" and my mom was making a huge scene (in a good way) pointing at it. Next thing you know, Brian looks in my direction and blows me a kiss. Whether he actually saw it or not, I don't know. But to be a nine year old child and have that happen, well, I will cherish that memory forever. I remember it so clearly.

Then, there's a song on Millennium that really touches me. "The Perfect Fan." Growing up with a mom who sacrificed so much and did everything she could for me, that song really hits home. After she passed away in 2009, that song was played at her funeral. Then, later that year, I performed a dance solo to it at one of my high school dance concerts. I was seventeen when I lost her. I especially like this part of the song, I feel it describes my mom perfectly: "You were always there for me Pushing me and guiding me Always to succeed."

In 2013, I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to attend a second Backstreet Boys concert. To be reunited with the boys twelve years later was the most amazing feeling. The song "Madeleine" off the "In A World Like This Album" also really hits home. I remember Nick mentioning suicide in regards to this song at that concert, and it really touched me. So many people struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, I was pleased to see the boys raising awareness. And since that is how my mom passed away, it is my mission to help people who struggle with it.

Then I heard about the BSB Cruises. I have been wanting to go on a cruise for a while, but just haven't had the chance to. I have also been wanting to go overseas. When I found out that there was such a thing as a Backstreet Boys Cruise, I added it to my bucket list. I am happy to say I am going on the 2016 European Cruise. This will be my first cruise, first time overseas, and first time meeting the Backstreet Boys. I couldn't be more excited.

I have so much respect for the Backstreet Boys. There is something to be said about the fact that this boy band that was formed in 1993 is still together and still making music over twenty years later. Without the brotherhood they have, this wouldn't be possible. They care about one another, love their wives and children, and are just overall good people.

Nick being on Dancing With The Stars. I was so excited to find out about that! As that is my favorite TV show, I love to dance, and I obviously love the Backstreet Boys. Team SharNick all the way, I am praying for a mirror ball trophy for them! Then, when Nick announced Lauren's pregnancy, boy did I tear up! Knowing that he grew up in a dysfunctional family and seeing how excited he is about baby Carter warms my heart. I always love seeing a father get so excited about his children; something I've never had. And knowing that Nick and Lauren have experienced the heartbreak of a miscarriage and seeing how excited they are about this baby, well, I am over the moon for them. I can't imagine how painful that must have been, and I am so happy to know a healthy baby is on the way.

I think that about sums it up. I'd be here all day if I said every little thing. Love you guys, and I cannot wait to meet you in six months! <3

  2. Thank you to all those who shared their experiences. For so many years I thought I was alone, that I was just that weird college kid who felt comfort from listening to a boyband. Now, with social media and access to fans across the globe - and the Boys themselves - I realize that BSB's music helped countless people through their own troubles. I am so honored to have had my story profiled as a SOTM recipient, and I truly hope more fans have the courage to speak up, share their stories and connect with other fans.

  3. Thank you for asking me to be part of this! Such an honor to be able to express to them how they have touched our lives.

  4. This was really fun to read. All of us sure have so many stories of how we became a BSB fan along with much their music has helped us. When I found them out I was 7 1/2, I still them at age 25. It feels good every time when listening any of their songs and to just sing along to every word. From turning on a CD or watching a music video. Of course seeing them in concert sure was just wonderful and amazing! Knowing I was way behind on seeing which was in 2014.. I couldn't help of sharing my story too.. :) All of us fans stick together!
