BSB Movie: The wives’ cut?
We may not see a lot of BSB’s family in Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t part of the film-making journey.
With just two weeks until the UK/Europe launch of the doco, Howie says that the group – who were all producers on the project – turned to their loved ones when it came to getting advice on various scenes.
“We all used our families as sound boards,” he says. “My wife was a key person in my opinions and the way I viewed it because besides working with us at one point, she used to be in the industry.
“She worked for [producer/actor] Jerry Weintraub and was a producer, so I would go to her a lot and say, ‘What do you think of this take?’
“There were a lot of times where she was very brutal and honest and said, ‘This movie sucks right now!’
“That was at the very beginning.
“Where it is now from where it started – we came so far.”
Brian showed his brother – who mistakenly thought the film had been “edited for dramatic effect” – while Nick meanwhile retreated from the “million email chains” with updates and edits.
“For me I put it all out there, then wanted to let the director and production team put together the story they found,” he says.
“In the beginning I watched the first couple of edits, but after that I wanted to be surprised.”
As for AJ, he admits being the one in the group who loves to give family and friends sneak peeks at BSB records and it was no different with their documentary.
But even his wife Rochelle was blown away by the story revealed on-camera.
“I talked to [Rochelle] after we did the morning news and she told me she was getting teary-eyed. I was like, ‘Really? We didn’t have an emotional interview!’
“But she’s been around with me for almost six years and has become family as all of our wives have and she was like, ‘I know you guys now. You’re great, honest, loyal men who treat your families great and your fans great and to see what you’ve gone through and that you’ve persevered is really emotional.
“You could have easily thrown in the towel and you didn’t.’”
*UK/Europe – you’re up next when it comes to seeing just how much BSB persevered, when Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of premieres your way on February 26. Grab your tickets now!
