I became a BSB fan when in 1997. Soap operas are huge here in Brazil and "As long as you love me" was playing in one of them. I got hooked by the first time I listened to it. It was difficult that time for an 11-year-old kid to discover international singers, but during a musical program it was talking about a boy band which was getting famous around the world. That moment I got to know the band's name: Backstreet Boys. After that I tried to discover everything that I could about them and I really thought one that we would be friends. LOL.
I became a fan in 1997.
I was raised by my grandparents, and my Uncle who was about 20 at the time, was still living at home.
One day the 5 of us were in the car, I was in the backseat in the middle since I was the smallest, my uncle in the front passenger seat with headphones on and the volume up so loud he might as well taken them off and just put the cd in the car’s player. From what I could hear I was loving the music. I paid close attention to when he switched the cd out for another and saw “Backstreet Boys: Backstreet’s Back”. I held on to the name until I saw my parents that weekend and begged them for that album. Finally getting it I listened to it over and over, I’m surprised I didn’t burn a hole through it. After that it was all downhill for my parents, I was hit with BSB fever and couldn’t get enough.
My senior year of high school, I was still 100% KTBSPA, I met my husband who admitted he liked some of BSB’s songs; brownie points. One of our songs is “Safest Place To Hide”.
He bought me every album from Never Gone to current as gifts and he even took me to my first BSB concert and again for the recent DNA World Tour in 2019.
After all these years, their music, the lyrics, still strike something in my soul. They are even more relatable than ever, many of us are married and the fact we are now in the same moments in our lives as they are make the music that much better.
I started became a fan last year, 2019.. Yes.. I'm their newest fan. And all started when I play "No Place" on YouTube. I was touched by the music video which made me feel in love with them so much. Then I listened random songs from their random albums.. Well, one of my favorites here were "The Call", "Straight to My Heart", "Larger Than Life", "God, Your Mama and Me" by Florida Georgia Line ft. Backstreet Boys (Which became my most favorite among all and in this song made me feel deeply in love with Nick Carter), Everybody (Backstreet's Back), and "Safest Place to Hide". "As Long as You Love Me", "Shape of my Heart", "I Want It That Way" was also my favorites because I use to listen them before when it was made popular in our country. Until now I use to listen their songs every day and every night while I'm studying because I feel so relaxed and inspire while studying. Btw, I'm Alea Ver.. 19 years of age and proud to say that I'm a Backstreet Boys' fan since 2019 until forever. It is my dream (anyway it became one of the things in my bucket list) to meet them and to watch them perform live. Hopefully after I graduated in college (I'm 2nd year now) I can make to their upcoming tours. Hopefullyyyy!! I love you boys.. Backstreet Boys <3 My forever love and inspiration <3
