The Backstreet Boys Return To ‘Good Morning America’ In A Big Way

On Thursday afternoon, people began gathering in Central Park, prepared to spend the night sleeping on the ground and park benches in order to get a prime spot for the Backstreet Boys performance during the Good Morning America summer concert series.

…And it’s a good thing they did! By 5am, more than 5000 had gathered at the stage area to watch the show. During the GMA broadcast, not only did the morning anchors repeatedly acknowledge the incredible turn out, but also mentioned that the BSB had garnered more audience members than any other concert so far!

Kevin, Brian, Nick, AJ and Howie took the stage to not only perform the fan favorites such as “I Want It That Way” and “Everybody”, but also their newest single, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”. Coincidentally, the performance ended just hours before the Boys’ final 18 Vegas residency dates went on sale to the public, where they will also be adding the new song to the set when the show starts back at the end of this month.

“It’s nice to have new music that resonates, that people like, that they’re enjoying it and getting to perform it in front of a crowd like this… we love it,” Kevin told Robin Roberts of which song the BSB are currently enjoying performing the most.

One thing is for sure though, new or old music, the Backstreet Boys are still nailing the vocals and choreography like it’s 1999 and we can guarantee that thousands of people in New York City on Friday morning (and watching across the country) would agree. Within minutes of their performance, the hashtag #BACKSTREETBOYSonGMA was a trending topic on Twitter and remained there for several hours following. 25 years later, this is still only just the beginning of a new era.
